Champu’s Trip to Outer Space-a bilingual board book of an extra terrestrial adventure

AdiDev Press is back with a delightful board book that promises to delight young readers. Champu’s Trip to Outer Space-a bilingual board book of an extra terrestrial adventure will appeal to young readers. The book tells the story of a little girl named Champu, who rides a rocket straight into outer space. Well, she can’t help it can she? Not when a billion stars are calling her! As one turns each page there is a new planet in store. In short and snappy verses the writer brings out the essence of the planet. Each planet has something special or unique in store for the young visitor.

The book has been written in Hindi by Alankrita Amaya and translated into English by Sarita Saraf. Along with the illustrations by Devika Oza, reading the book with your toddler may just feel like a little well-orchestrated dance! You can read the English or Hindi or both. There is an option of scanning the barcode at the back of the book to listen to the audiobook as well.

The vibrant and colourful book (Saur Mandal ki Sair in Hindi) is sure to catch the imagination of young children aged 3 to 6. The book is a fun resource to introduce the concept of outer space and the planets to this age group. And what better time than now? As ISRO is proudly making news on its varied space adventures, why not let our young ones in the fun!

Bilingual board books are indeed an apt way for children to enjoy a bit of self reading in English but also be introduced to vernacular languages. As I have always maintained these are great gifts for NRI’s and also a good choice for grandparents or parents who may wish to maintain an ongoing reading practice in native languages with their children.
